一、課程說明
「有些事情現在不做，一輩子都不會做了。」（電影《練習曲》），比方學習古希臘文！
古希臘文明遺產對於整個西方傳統有著深遠重大影響。從羅馬時期以降，人們不停地與古希臘進行對話，站在反省批判或重新發掘古希臘文明遺產的基礎上，為自己當時文化尋找新的定位與發展。正因為如此，古希臘文語言學習一直為歐洲大學人文教育的基礎核心課程。本課程「初級古希臘文一」也是以基礎人文教育的理念為核心，透過介紹古希臘文語言，帶領台灣年輕學子們探索古希臘之美。這是我的使命，也是畢生職志。期待古希臘文明與當代台灣的交會將激盪出更多的火花，為台灣與華語世界加入新的視野與思考觀點。
本課程並重於閱讀能力培養與正確掌握文法概念。以閱讀住在雅典城北方的農民Dicaeopolis 他的古希臘文小故事作為一個引線，簡介古希臘農民生活（第1章）與奴隸制度（第2 章）、Demos與Polis（第 3 章）、古希臘的女性角色（第 4 章）、諸神與人類的關係（第 5章）、美諾安文明（第6章）、特洛伊戰爭（第 7章）、邁錫尼文明（第8章）、雅典衛城與帕德農神廟（第 9
章）、古希臘節慶（第 10章）、科學與醫學（第 11 章）、貿易與殖民（第 12週）。
學習古希臘文雖然挑戰性較高，但也是一趟充滿驚喜與豐收的旅程。在這裡也預告未來你將有能力閱讀哪些經典：第二個學期「初級古希臘文二」末我們將閱讀Homer's Iliad的原文第一書第1-7行。第三個學期「中級古希臘文一」我們將閱讀歷史學之父Herodotus所記載之Lydia國王Croesus與雅典政治改革家Solon的討論：「誰是這世界上最幸福的人？」，以及Plato對話錄Socrates’ Apology（蘇格拉底辯詞篇）之古希臘文原文。第四個學期「中級古希臘文二」我們將閱讀Homer's Iliad（伊里亞特）第一書與Euripides’ Bacchae（酒神的女侍）之古希臘文原文。非常期待與各位同學一起這趟穿越時空之旅！

四、成績考核
1.
上課前，請同學們事先預習下週上課指定翻譯段落，估計花費約2.5小時。
2.
上課中，第一個小時隨堂測驗20分鐘與檢討答案；第二個小時介紹文法概念以及主題式簡介古希臘各層面；第三個小時各位同學輪流翻譯。
3.
上課後，請複習單字文法與當日翻譯段落，估計花費2.5小時，這些內容將出現於下週隨堂測驗。
4.
三次期中考試各佔 20%，隨堂測驗佔 20%，上課參與佔 20%。
5.
沒有家庭作業，以上課參與翻譯代替。因此你的課前準備與每次出席是非常重要的。我們會不定期點名，缺席者每次扣總平均成績 5%。
