古希臘文英譯:

Tell me about the resourceful man, Muse, who wandered many places, since he had sacked the holy city of Troy.

And he saw the towns of many people and came to know their mind, and he suffered many pains at the sea with respect of his spirit, seeking to gain his soul and the return home of his companions. But even so, he did not rescue his companions, though he desires.

For they perished because of their own recklessness, being childish, they who ate the cattle of Hyperion Helois, but he took away the day of homecoming. Goddess, the daughter of God, tell us of these things from any point.
