Modernité Émergente
at the Faculty of Philosophy of Université Laval (Québec, QC)
Description
The Chair’s main objective is to explore the different aspects of the critical heritage of Greco-Roman thought and to explain their impact on subsequent history of thought. These scholarships are therefore intended to support promising research on themes related to this objective. The main research project (i.e. a doctoral or a master’s thesis) may be written in English, but the language of study at Université Laval is French.
- Doctoral scholarship: The scholarship is valued at $13, 500 per year ($4500 per term) and is accompanied by a research contract of $1500 per year. In the case if a joint supervision arrangement, the scholarship is valued at $1500 per term for each term during which the candidate is present at Université Laval.
- Master’s scholarship: The scholarship is valued at $7500.
Eligibility
The candidate must pursue his or her research project under the supervision of the chairholder, however, joint supervision arrangements are permitted. The candidate must satisfy the admissions criteria of either the doctoral program or the master’s program of the Faculty of Philosophy of Université Laval (depending on the scholarship for which he or she applies).
Application Process
The candidate’s application dossier must include the following documents:
1. A cover letter.
2. A curriculum vitae.
3. A description of the candidate’s doctoral or master’s thesis project which clearly identifies the link between the project and Chair’s main objective. The document should not exceed 4 pages, double spaced (font Times New Roman 12 or equivalent).
4. To confidential letters of recommendation.
5. A copy of the candidate’s official transcripts.
